IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING NIXLE NOTIFCATION SYSTEM UPGRADE TO EVERBRIDGE SYSTEM
10/23/2023 2:45 p.m. - Thank you for being one of the 15,668 subscribers to Teton County Emergency Management's Nixle Notification System. We sent our first "Nixle" on May 5th, 2009 and have sent over 1,396 messages since then (this is the 1,397th!). Just like our subscriber base has grown, so has our community, its needs, and available technology. For those reasons, we are upgrading from Nixle to Everbridge as our community's public alert, warning, and notification system.

During the first phase, current Nixle subscribers don't need to do anything. Your account will be automatically migrated over to Everbridge, and you'll continue to receive emergency messaging from Teton County Emergency Management. You will still receive texts from 888777, and you’ll still get emails if you are signed up for those. Some of the headers of the emails and formatting may look different, so be prepared for that. We will send some test messages on the system after the migration to ensure it is working.

A special note for our Spanish language Nixle subscribers: once we make the initial migration this week from Nixle to Everbridge, Nixle will no longer send translated Spanish messages. Instead, when you get a text notification click the link and at the top of the page there will be a link to a public page of our emergency notifications ( https://member.everbridge.net/337829242601839/notif ). Use the drop-down in the upper right corner of the page to select the language to translate the web page. When the transition to Everbridge is complete there will be a translation feature built in; this is only a temporary solution.

In the second phase over the next month or so, we will let all subscribers know how they can access our web member portal to create their own Everbridge account. This will give you the opportunity to share your address for more targeted emergency messaging, add multiple phone numbers and email addresses to get alerts, download an app to get mobile push notifications, and add access for TTY devices for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. By providing an address, you can also register for automated weather alerts based on the locations you provide.

The other change you will see is in the branding of the system. We will no longer refer to the system as “Nixle”, or even as “Everbridge”, but instead we are calling it Teton_WY Alerts. This is to reflect that the alerting system is for the Teton County, WY community and isn’t necessarily tied to any one system or vendor. See the attachments to this message for the branding and headers you can expect to see on messages and websites in the future.

Most importantly, you can still have friends and family register for Teton_WY Alerts by texting the keyword TETON_WY to 888777. This will work even after the switch to Everbridge, making for a smooth transition.

To learn more about the transition and Everbridge, visit our Frequently Asked Questions page. If you no longer wish to receive messages from us, simply text the word STOP to 888777 or click the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email you receive from us. Email us at [email protected] if you have questions. Thank you for being a Teton_WY Alerts subscriber and for helping to make Teton County a more disaster-resilient community.
