ARRAIGNMENT/BAIL STATUS: Cristian Gonzalez was arraigned in Amsterdam City Court in front of the Honorable Judge Lisa W. Lorman and was released on his own recognizance to appear in the Amsterdam City Court on a later date.
INCIDENT NARRATIVE: On October 19, 2023 at approximately 12:55 p.m. an Amsterdam Police patrol officer conducted a traffic stop on a 1993 Toyota Corolla for a vehicle and traffic violation. During the course of the investigation it was determined that the operator of the vehicle Cristian Gonzalez was violating a court ordered stay away order of protection by being in the presence of two of his passengers who were named as protected persons in the order. During the course of the investigation Gonzalez attempted to conceal the identity of one of the protected persons and further obstructed the investigation. Gonzalez was placed into custody without further incident. Gonzalez was then transported to the Amsterdam Police Department for processing where he was held for arraignment in Amsterdam City Court.
While there was probable cause for this arrest, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
