NEWARK Police Department Crime Blotter Oct 16 - 23, 2023

The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2023
04:47 AM: Officer Johnson investigated a vehicle theft in the 36000 block of Cherry Street.
10:09 AM: Officer Pacheco contacted and arrested a 42-year-old male out of Newark on Sycamore Street. He was arrested for being in possession of drug paraphernalia and a warrant. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
12:57 PM: Officer Slavazza investigated a theft in the area of 6300 Jarvis Avenue. The victim was distracted by the suspects and her purse was stolen from her shopping cart. The credit cards were used in neighboring cities. This is an ongoing investigation.
4:06 PM: Officer Pacheco located an unoccupied stolen vehicle on Flanders Drive.
5:20 PM: Officer Johnson investigated a vehicle theft on Dairy Avenue.
10:16 PM: Officer Torres arrested a 39-year-old out of Newark for violating a restraining order and vandalizing vehicles on Elm Street.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2023
8:08 AM: Officers located a stolen vehicle in the 39000 block of Potrero Drive.
9:08 AM: Officer Pacheco investigated an auto burglary on Jacaranda Drive. Unknown loss at this time.
9:22 AM: Officer Losier investigated an auto burglary that occurred overnight in the 39000 block of Potrero Drive. Unknown loss at this time.
10:05 AM: Officer Piquette investigated a late reported assault with a deadly weapon on Mowry Avenue where the victim was severely burnt by his co-worker. Ongoing investigation.  

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2023
8:08 AM: Officer Piquette investigated an auto burglary that occurred overnight in the area of Marguerite Drive. The loss was the vehicles owner’s manual and other miscellaneous items.
1:07 PM Officer Quinonez investigated an attempted package theft from a residence on Primula Terrace. The suspect damaged the Victim’s Ring doorbell camera prior to fleeing the area.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2023
8:02 AM: Detective Hunter arrested a 41-year-old male out of Newark for a felony warrant.
9:50 AM: Officers investigated a stolen vehicle in the 37100 block of Magnolia Street.
11:45 AM: Officer Quinonez investigated a residential burglary on Reymouth Drive.
10:55 PM: Officer Swadener initiated a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle for various vehicle code violations and arrested the driver, 41-year-old male out of Pleasanton, for his warrants, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

SATURDAY OCTOBER 21, 2023
6:30 AM: Officer Frentescu investigated a stolen vehicle from a parking lot on Newpark Mall Road.
7:08 AM: Officer Frentescu located an unoccupied stolen vehicle in a parking lot on Newpark Mall Road.
8:35 AM: Officer Quinonez investigated an auto burglary on Winsford Court that occurred sometime overnight. Unknown loss at this time.
10:02 AM Officer Taylor investigated an auto burglary that occurred overnight.
10:52 AM Officer Quinonez investigated an auto burglary of a mounted toolbox on Rosewood Drive. No reported loss.
8:44 PM: Officer Kapu attempted to stop a motorcyclist driving recklessly in the area of Thronton Avenue and Mayhews Landing Road. The driver failed to yield and was not pursued.
9:36 PM: Officer Riddles conducted a parole search on Cedar Court and arrested a 32-year-old male out of Modesto and a 44-year-old male out of Fremont for drug related charges. Both were issued a citation and released on scene.
9:47 PM: Officer Hererra arrested a 61-year-old male out of Milpitas for being drunk in public. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail. 
11:35 PM: Officer Hererra conducted a traffic enforcement stop of a vehicle on Mowry Avenue and arrested a 37-year-old male out of Newark for drug related charges. He was issued a citation and released on scene.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2023
1:48 AM: Officer Swadener initiated a traffic enforcement stop near Thornton Ave and I-880.  Officer Swadener ultimately arrested the driver, a 32-year-old male out of Union City for driving under the influence.  He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
0842 AM: Officer Taylor received a Lo-Jack alert from a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was located in the area of Walnut Avenue. As officers approached, the unknown suspect returned to the parked vehicle and fled the area. Officers did not pursue the vehicle and surrounding agencies were notified.
10:29 AM: Officer McCuin arrested a 40-year-old male out of Newark for domestic violence. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
8:21 PM: Officer Kapu investigated a domestic disturbance on Thomas Avenue. The case is being sent to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office for review.
