IMPD Detectives Make Quick Arrest in two Separate Homicide Investigations Overnight
INDIANAPOLIS- Overnight IMPD Homicide detectives arrested 22-year-old Larenzo Johnson for his alleged role in the homicide which occurred in the 5700 block of W. Ray Street. Prior to the shooting, a family disturbance occurred and at some point, shots were fired. An adult male was located outside this location with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s). IEMS responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. Johnson was on scene when officers arrived. Officers detained Johnson and transported him to the Homicide Office for questioning. After consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO), Johnson was subsequently arrested for murder.

In a separate overnight homicide investigation, detectives arrested 61-year-old Rodregus Morgan for his alleged involvement in the homicide that occurred in the 3100 block of Osceola Lane. It is believed an argument occurred prior to this shooting incident. An adult female was located inside a vehicle at this location with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s). IEMS responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. Morgan was on scene when officers arrived. Officers detained Morgan and transported him to the homicide office for questioning. After consultation with the MCPO and thanks to community cooperation, Morgan was arrested for murder.

Arrests are merely accusations and the suspects should be considered innocent unless and until proven guilty. The MCPO will make the final charging decisions. Both incidents are isolated and there is no threat to the public.
