* WHAT...Heavy snow. Snow accumulations of 3 to 10 inches through Wednesday afternoon, with an additional 6 to 9 inches from Wednesday night through Thursday afternoon. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
* WHERE...Portions of central, north central, and southwest Montana.
* WHEN...Until 6 PM MDT Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible and tire chains may be required for some vehicles. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Those in the backcountry should ensure they are prepared for dangerous conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A break in the snow is expected during the day on Wednesday before another wave of snow overspreads the area Wednesday night and into the day on Thursday.
