South Brunswick Police Department would like to remind our residents to be diligent in locking up their vehicles, and to not leave valuables in their vehicles, especially not in plain sight.

Recently, during the overnight hours, thieves have targeted several vehicles throughout the township. Most of the vehicles targeted were left unlocked. This problem is not unique to South Brunswick. Police are working diligently to investigate these cases, but are asking for the public's assistance in reporting any additional incidents. Anyone who believes their vehicle was targeted but who has not filed a police report are requested to do so.

Additionally, police are seeking the community’s help in deterring these crimes. Three simple steps you can take to deter burglary to vehicles would include:

1. Lock up your vehicle, even if it’s parked in your driveway, and even if you’ve never been targeted before
2. Never leave your keys, including proximity keys used for keyless entry and ignition, in your vehicle. Always take the keys with you.
3. Don’t leave valuables in your vehicle, and especially not in plain view.
