Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of October 16-22, 2023

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Robberies

There were three robberies during the past week.

On Monday, 10-16-23, at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to Total Wine & More on Gellert Boulevard on a report of a robbery. An employee stated that he was notified by a coworker that two suspects were concealing bottles of alcohol. The employee followed both suspects to the exit and asked them to stop. The first suspect said, “You better not touch me,” and walked out of the store with approximately six bottles of unpaid alcohol. While the employee was standing in front of the exit door, the second suspect shoved him on the chest with his left shoulder and fled the store with approximately six bottles of unpaid alcohol. The estimated amount of loss is $600 worth of alcohol. The employee described the first suspect as a Black male, approximately 6’0” tall, wearing a mask and a black puffy jacket with the hood over his head. The second suspect was described as a Black male, approximately 6’0” tall, wearing a mask and a red tracksuit with the hood over his head. Both suspects fled in an older black Mercedes. This investigation is continuing.

On Monday, 10-16-23, at approximately 9:03 p.m., officers were dispatched to Nordstrom Rack on a report of a theft. An asset protection agent said a male and female suspect entered the store. The male suspect selected a scarf, a handbag, three pairs of shoes, and two jackets. Both suspects entered the elevator, and the male suspect handed the female suspect a backpack. She held the backpack while the male suspect concealed the jackets into the backpack. When the elevator reached the main floor, the female suspect handed the backpack back to the male suspect. Both suspects walked out of the store without paying for the merchandise. While asset protection agents were trying to stop the suspects, the male suspect attempted to punch one of the asset protection agents. The asset protection agents were able to recover the scarf and two pairs of shoes. The suspects fled in an older model black sedan with approximately $300 worth of merchandise. An asset protection agent described the first suspect as a Black male, approximately 30 years old, wearing a black hat, yellow jacket, gold chains, and black pants. The second suspect was described as a Hispanic female, approximately 25 years old, wearing dark clothing. This investigation is continuing.

On Wednesday, 10-18-23, at approximately 8:41 p.m., officers were dispatched to Walgreens on San Pedro Road on a report of a robbery. A customer service associate stated that two suspects approached the register line holding bottles of tea. Both suspects placed the bottles on the counter, the customer service associate scanned the drinks, and once the register opened, one of the suspects showed the customer service associate a small note stating, something to the effect of, “We have a gun; give us the money.” The customer service associate got scared and stepped away from the register. The suspect leaned over the counter, took the cash drawer from the register, and placed the bills inside his pockets. The suspects took approximately $985 from the drawer and left the store. At 8:54 p.m., officers located the two suspects on the 6100 block of Mission Street. A third suspect was also located in the area, and cash and firearms were found in his vehicle. A 21-year-old Vallejo resident, a 19-year-old Richmond resident, and a 20-year-old Richmond resident were arrested and booked into jail for robbery and several felony charges.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
