Circumstance: Injury with Firearm
Investigators with the Marion Police Department have concluded their investigation into the incident with occurred at 45 Hoyle Street, in Marion. Investigators spoke with Haley Helms at Mission Hospital in Asheville, where she is still receiving treatment for her wound. Helms informed them that while she was moving the firearm from the bed, she (Helms) accidentally fired the weapon causing the injury to her leg.
After speaking with Helms, investigators sat down and discussed this case with the District Attorney’s Office. At the conclusion of that meeting the investigation has closed and there will be no further charges.

Officers with the Marion Police Department responded to 45 Hoyle Street in reference to a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, Officers and Emergency Personnel located Haley Helms (32, Marion) inside the residence, with an obvious leg injury. At the time the injury took place, Helms was inside her bedroom with Todd Ollis (38, Granite Falls). Helms was transported to Mission Hospital in Asheville, for treatment of her wounds, which are non-life threatening.
