Update: Teens Suspected of June Drive-By Shooting Facing Charges; House on N. Broadway Street Struck by Gunfire

The Green Bay Police Department has gathered adequate evidence to have charges on two teens suspected of a drive-by shooting in 900 block of N. Broadway Street on June 9, 2023.

The Brown County District Attorney’s Office filed charges against Myles Schinke, 17, and Vance Degeneffe, 16, in adult court on October 25, 2023:

  • First-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety – PTAC
  • Drive or Operate a Vehicle without Owner’s Consent - PTAC
  • Intentionally Contribute to the Delinquency of a Child
  • Knowingly Flee/Elude or Attempt to Flee/Elude an Officer - PTAC
  • Possession of a Firearm by Adjudicated Delinquent - PTAC

The teen suspects were believed to have been known within days of the incident; however, it wasn’t until significant evidence was collected by GBPD to have charges referred on October 17, 2023.

Three residents were inside of the home that was struck by gunfire: 45-year-old female, 38-year-old male, and an 11-year-old female. No injuries were reported. Not inside of the home, was a 17-year-old male, who was believed to be the intended target, according to witnesses.

During the initial investigation, police learned of an alleged issue between the teenagers.

“We are fortunate that this act of violence did not result in our community mourning the loss of a family,” said Chief Chris Davis, Green Bay Police Department. “We have to acknowledge the persistence of our officers, detectives and professional staff, who continued to gather the evidence needed to bring charges forward along with the outside agencies that helped us along the way.”

The Green Bay Police Department would like to recognize the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, Fox Valley Metro Police, Madison Police, and Steven’s Point Police, for providing their assistance.

The case remains active. No additional details will be released at this time.
