With Halloween on Tuesday, we want to remind motorists to drive slowly and to watch for little ghouls and goblins who may accidentally wander into the roadway.

Tips for motorists from North Castle Police:

• Watch for children walking on roadways, medians, and curbs
• Enter and exit driveways and alleys carefully
• At twilight and later in the evening, watch for children in dark clothing
• Discourage new, inexperienced drivers from driving

• Make sure costumes fit and allow you to see and hear perfectly
• Wear brightly colored clothing
• Walk on sidewalks on lit streets (never through alleys or across lawns)
• Walk from house to house (never run) and always walk facing traffic when walking on roads
• Cross the street at crosswalks and never assume that vehicles will stop
• Carry a flashlight
• Check all treats to make sure they're sealed
