The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 24. 2023
7:31 AM: Officer C. Torres investigated an auto burglary via lock pry to a vehicle parked in a parking lot of 34900 Newark Boulevard. The theft occurred sometime overnight, and the loss was power tools.
08:52 AM: Officer McCuin investigated a vehicle theft from Seawind Way.
10:11 AM: Officer Pacheco investigated a vehicle theft from the parking lot of 34900 Newark Boulevard. The theft occurred sometime after midnight.
5:07 PM: Officer C. Torres was dispatched to a family dispute in the area of 39800 Cedar Boulevard. One of the involved parties, a 37-year-old male out of Newark, was arrested for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.  He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
7:15 PM: Officer Johnson arrested a 41-year-old male for driving under the influence after colliding with a parked vehicle. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2023
5:50 AM: Officer S. Torres investigated an auto burglary that occurred on Dumbarton Court. The loss is tools.
6:26 AM: Officer Slavazza investigated an auto burglary that occurred in the area of 5900 Mowry Avenue. The loss is tools.
7:00 AM: Officer Quinonez investigated a theft of a vehicle on Exeter Court. The vehicle was located in a neighboring city.
7:41 AM: Officer Piquette investigated a theft from a vehicle on Filbert Street. Loss is a wallet.
7:51 AM: Officer Pacheco investigated a theft of a vehicle on Orleans Drive.
8:27 AM: Officer S. Torres investigated a vehicle theft in the 6200 block of Cedar Boulevard.
9:09 AM: Officers investigated an auto burglary that occurred overnight in the area of 34900 Newark Boulevard. No reported loss.
9:17 AM: Officer Slavazza investigated an auto burglary in the area of 8200 Thornton Avenue. Unknown loss at this time.
10:25 AM: Officers investigated a vandalism to an unoccupied business on Jarvis Avenue.
12:09 PM: Officer Losier investigated a theft by trickery, where the Victim received a scam phone call and was instructed to purchase gift cards and send them to the unknown suspect. The loss was approximately $2,000.
2:44 PM: Officers were dispatched to a battery on Goldenrod Drive. A 40-year-old male out of Newark was contacted and arrested for battery and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
3:51 PM: Officer Piquette investigated a residential burglary on Hyacinth Street where the suspect made entry through the rear yard and bathroom window. No suspect(s) were located and no reported loss at this time.
9:34 PM: Officer S. Torres was dispatched to a collision where a vehicle struck the center median and damaged a red flex camera. Officer S. Torres contacted and arrested a 27-year-old female out of Newark for driving under the influence. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2023
1:22 AM: Officer Johnson located a stolen vehicle on Breton Place.
1:22 AM: Officer Smith investigated a commercial burglary in the area of 5300 Thornton Avenue. No reported loss.
6:48 AM: Officer S. Torres investigated a report of an attempted stolen vehicle in the area of 5300 Thornton Avenue.
7:56 AM: Officers investigated an auto burglary in the area of Darvon Street. No loss.
8:21 AM: Officer Losier investigated a theft from an unlocked vehicle in the area of 39600 Newark Boulevard.
8:52 AM: Officer Pacheco investigated a report of an attempted stolen vehicle in the area of 36900 Newark Boulevard
9:54 AM: Officer S. Torres investigated a vehicle theft from Sawyer Terrace. The vehicle was later located unoccupied.
11:18 AM: Officer Losier investigated a robbery of a Jewelry store on Newpark Mall Road. Case still under investigation.
11:33 AM: Officer Pacheco investigated a report of an attempted stolen vehicle on Buena Vista Drive.
3:07 PM: Officers responded to the 36800 block of Newark Boulevard for a report of an attempted stolen vehicle.
3:37 PM: Community Service Officer Vuong investigated a package theft on Joaquin Murieta that occurred at 12:30 PM.
8:07 PM: Officers were dispatched to a business on Newark Boulevard for a report of a subject standing in the drive-through stating he had a firearm. Officers safely contacted the 29-year-old Newark resident and determined he was not armed but was too intoxicated to take care for himself. He was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2023
7:11 AM: Officer Slavazza responded to a residential burglary on Cedar Boulevard. The victim reported that she left her apartment door open and believed while she was in another room, someone entered her apartment and stole her cat and cell phone.  
3:57 PM: Community Service Officer Lau investigated theft of a bicycle in the area of Newpark Mall Road.
4:20 PM: Community Service Officer Lau investigated a report of an attempted stolen vehicle in the area of 37900 Hickory Street.
11:33 PM: Officer Swadener came upon a disabled vehicle on Cedar Boulevard. The driver, a 70-year-old female out of Fremont, was contacted and placed under arrest for driving under the influence.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2023
3:00 AM: Officers Kapu initiated a traffic enforcement stop of a vehicle on Thornton Avenue/I880. The driver, a 22-year-old male out of Stockton, yielded on Mowry Avenue and switched seats with the passenger.  The driver was arrested for delaying/obstructing a peace officer and driving with a suspended license. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
12:17 PM: Officer Jackman investigated an auto burglary that occurred on Braidburn Avenue. There was no loss.
5:54 PM: Officer S. Torres arrested a 47-year-old unsheltered male for shoplifting and booked him into Santa Rita Jail.
9:30 PM Officer Soto investigated the report of a stolen vehicle from the area of 35000 Newark Boulevard.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2023
08:14 AM: Officer McCuin investigated a vehicle theft from the 3600 Block of Haley Street.
11:45 AM: Officer Frentescu investigated a vehicle theft from the area of Newpark Mall Road.
