Yucca Valley Woman Arrested for Arson After Setting Fire to a Trailer Resulting in Damage to Her Home and Another
DATE/TIME: Saturday, October 28, 2023, 1:03 a.m.
INCIDENT: Penal Code 451(b) Arson
LOCATION: 7600 Block of Balsa Avenue, Yucca Valley
SUSPECT(S): Dianna Newton, 34-year-old female resident of Yucca Valley
SUMMARY: On Saturday, October 28, 2023, at approximately 1:03 a.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, assigned to the town of Yucca Valley, responded to the 7600 block of Balsa Avenue reference a house fire. Deputies arrived on scene and found two travel trailers on the north side of the residence to be fully engulfed. Deputies ensured there were no occupants inside the residence and began to evacuate surrounding homes. A neighboring residence suffered damage to the roof and a palm tree from the fire, and the house where the fire started suffered major damamge.
San Bernardino County Fire Depatement personnel arrived on scene and extinguished the fire, and the incident was also investigated by the Sheriff's Bomb and Arson Division. During the investigation, it was discovered the resident, Dianna Newton, purposley set one of the trailers on fire.
Newton was arrested for Penal Code 451(b) and booked into custody at West Valley Detention Center, with bail set at $80,000.
