INCIDENT: PC 245( c), Assault with Deadly Weapon on a Peace Officer and CVC 2800.2 (a), Felony Evading
LOCATION: Soquel Canyon Parkway / Butterfield Rancho Road, Chino Hills
SUSPECT(S): Ernesto Manzo, 40-year-old resident of San Jacinto, CA
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at approximately 2:35 p.m., deputies from the Chino Hills Police/Sheriff's Station observed the suspect, later identified as 40-year-old Ernesto Manzo, commit California Vehicle Code violations. Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop, and Manzo refused to stop. Deputies initiated a pursuit, and Manzo intentionally drove head-on towards another deputy's vehicle. The deputy swerved in order to avoid a head on collision. Acting in due regard for public safety, the pursuit was cancelled.
Through investigation, deputies positively identified the suspect as Manzo. On November 2, 2023, an arrest warrant for Manzo was issued for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and felony evading. Deputies discovered Manzo was involved in a hit and run in the city of Anaheim on November 1, 2023, and arrested for public intoxication by Anaheim Police Department. Working in collaboration with Anaheim Police Department, deputies located Manzo near his mother's residence in the city of Anaheim. Manzo was arrested and transported to the West Valley Detention Center for his active warrant.
