Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Robbery Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help with identifying the below-pictured suspect, who robbed a victim of his phone on October 20, 2023. 
 
Police responded to the incident, which occurred at approximately 12:02 p.m. in the 600 block of Broad Street. The victim was sitting at a bus stop when the suspect snatched his phone and ran north on Broad Street.  An altercation ensued after the victim chased the suspect, who then ran onto a bus stopped on Broad Street. The victim followed the suspect onto the bus, but the suspect threw the phone out of the window to his friends. The suspect ran off the bus, retrieved the phone from his friends and fled into the Newark Light Rail Station at Broad Street and Raymond Boulevard. 
 
The suspect, a Black male, is described as 5’5” and approximately 16 to 18-years-old. He was wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and a black ski mask and had tattoos on both hands. 
 
Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
