Deputies Respond to Fentanyl Overdose and Save a Life in Valley Springs

On October 22, at approximately 2:00 AM, deputies of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Daphne Street in Valley Springs, CA, following a 911 call reporting a suspected drug overdose.
Upon arrival, deputies found an unresponsive female subject. The initial information indicated that the individual had overdosed on fentanyl. The deputies immediately administered Narcan (naloxone) and performed CPR. These life-saving measures were successful, and the female subject was revived at the scene. The subject was subsequently turned over to emergency medical personnel for further evaluation and treatment.
The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office commends the deputies for their rapid and decisive actions, which were crucial in preventing a possible drug overdose death. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of fentanyl and other opioids.
We also want to remind the public that the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with Calaveras County Substance Use Services is dedicated to addressing the opioid epidemic and its impact on our community. Substance Use Services can be found at 891 Mountain Ranch Road (Building L) in San Andreas, CA 95249, or you can reach them by telephone at (209) 754-6555.
