Sergeant Josh Crabtree Retires after 21 years of Service to Calaveras County.
After 21 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Calaveras County, Sergeant Josh Crabtree will be retiring. Sergeant Crabtree started his law enforcement career in September of 2002 when he entered the academy as a Deputy Sheriff recruit. During his career, he worked several assignments, including Patrol, Detectives, Field Training Officer, Marijuana Enforcement Team, and Marine Safety. In addition to his daily assignments, he was an active member of several specialized teams: SWAT team (18 years), Explosive Ordinance Disposal (16 years), and Dive Team (3 years).
Before and during his service to Calaveras County, Sergeant Crabtree served eight years of active duty in the Army and 12 years in the National Guard and Army Reserve. During his military service, he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He held three different Military Occupational Skills- Infantry (Scouts), Cavalry, and service in the Joint Forces Headquarters as a Human Resource Specialist.
During a retirement gathering at the Office, Sergeant Crabtree thanked his peers for the “good times and good memories from everyone he worked with.” Sheriff DiBasilio, an academy classmate of Sergeant Crabtree, recalled many of the significant investigations and countless efforts to keep the county safe.
The members of the Sheriff’s Office would like to wish Sergeant Crabtree a well-deserved and hard-earned retirement. We hope the following chapters in his life are filled with some rest, recreation, and a strong knowledge that his efforts made a difference in keeping people safe and improving the quality of their neighborhoods.
