On November 3, 2023, just before 5:00 PM, a 57-year-old man became the victim of a disturbing incident at the Absecon Bulkhead/Faunce Landing Park.

The victim was seated in his vehicle at the park, peacefully reading a book, when he became the target of a violent encounter. Two individuals, later identified as a 14-year-old and a 17-year-old, approached the driver with the intent of gaining unauthorized access to his vehicle. The situation escalated as the juveniles forcibly removed the man from his vehicle, attempting to steal his car keys. The victim was able to thwart their efforts. Unfortunately, during the altercation, he sustained injuries.

The Absecon Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division (CID) conducted a thorough examination of surveillance footage that captured the incident. Following a diligent investigation by our detectives, both juveniles involved in the incident were apprehended.

The two individuals have been charged with 1st Degree Carjacking and Assault. They have been committed to a detention facility.
