High Fire Danger
Broad River district residents & Air B&B owners,
as most know we are well into our Fall fire season and we have extremely dry conditions. Regardless of rather a burn ban is issued we want to ask that everyone is extremely careful burning outdoors and dumping fireplace ashes. If you have renters please make them aware as well. Outside camp fires and fireplace ashes can cause an out of control fire hours after they're believed to be out. It doesn't take much wind to uncover ash allowing oxygen to rich hidden embers. Use copious amounts of water to insure they're out, cover with damp soil or both. We would also ask residents to ensure they're homes have a defensable space around them free of debris, leaves, firewood, etc. Our top priority is saving lives and homes. Giving us a defensable space provides the best chances. As always call 828-250-6777 for burning information and to find out if it is open burning. Common sense should be used in conjunction with confirming it is open burning.
Thanks to everyone for their help and continued support.
