The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
MONDAY, OCTOBER 30. 2023
12:01 PM: Officer Jackman investigated a battery that occurred the day prior at a business on Jarvis Avenue.
2:50 PM: Officers arrested an adult female for trespassing on Cedar Court. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
3:00 PM: Officer McCuin arrested a 51-year-old transient male for violating a restraining order. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2023
6:47 AM: Officer Losier investigated a theft of a vehicle in the 36600 block of Mulberry Street.
7:04 AM: Officer C. Torres investigated a hit-and-run injury collision on Stevenson Boulevard. The suspect vehicle was described as a black sedan.
7:18 AM: Officer Slavazza investigated an auto burglary in the 7800 block of Crestmont Avenue. No reported loss.
8:31 AM: Officer Jackman investigated an auto burglary on Biddle Avenue. The loss was Milwaukee tools.
9:14 AM: Officer Jackman investigated a vandalism in the 7600 block of Thronton Avenue.
9:18 AM: Officer Slavazza investigated a theft of a license plate in the 5400 block of Port Sailwood Drive.
11:03 AM: Officer McCuin investigated a residential burglary in the area of 37000 Cherry Street. No suspect(s) located. Unknown method of entry.
7:19 PM: Officer Williams and FTO Cervantes investigated a battery on Cherry Street. The suspect initially fled in a vehicle but was located by officers. Officer Williams arrested both occupants, a 34-year-old female out of Tracy for the battery and a 34-year-old male out of Tracy for battery and a warrant. Both were booked into Santa Rita Jail.
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2023
2:25 AM: Officer Smith investigated a commercial burglary attempt in the 34000 block of Newark Boulevard. The glass front door was shattered but entry was not made due to internal security bars.
11:09 PM: Officer S. Torres arrested a 47-year-old male out of Newark for a restraining order violation. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2023
12:24 PM: Officer Quinonez arrested a 28-year-old male out of Hayward for stealing a package from a residence on Snapdragon Place. The officers attempted to apprehend the suspect, but he fled the area on foot and ran across I-880. With the assistance of neighboring agencies, he was taken into custody and booked into Santa Rita Jail for petty theft and resisting arrest.
7:17 PM: Officer Riddles arrested a 55-year-old male out of Newark for a felony warrant. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
8:40 PM: Officer Herrera investigated window smash auto burglaries that occurred on Mowry Avenue.
9:13 PM: Officer Torres arrested a 40-year-old female out of Newark on Christine Court for an outstanding warrant. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2023
1:49 PM: Officer Losier responded to a call for service on Daylily Street and ultimately arrested a 45-year-old female out of Newark for being under the influence of drugs and other drug related charges. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
11:35 PM: Officer Riddles located a 44-year-old male out of Fremont passed out in the roadway and determined he was too intoxicated to care for himself. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2023
3:39 PM: Officer Jackman contacted a 29-year-old male out of Newark and determined he was too intoxicated to care for himself. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 5TH, 2023
10:47 PM: Officer Herrera observed a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road on Thornton Avenue and initiated a traffic enforcement stop. He contacted the driver and passenger who were both intoxicated. Officer Hererra ultimately arrested the driver (46-year-old male/Morgan Hill) for driving under the influence and the passenger (24-year-old male/Morgan Hill) for being intoxicated in public. Both were booked into Santa Rita Jail.
