Man Arrested After Starting a Dumpster Fire at a Rancho Cucamonga Train Station

DATE/TIME: November 6, 2023 / 1:32 A.M.

INCIDENT: PC451(D)- Arson 

LOCATION: 11208 Azusa St, Rancho Cucamonga 91730

SUSPECT(S): Marcus Edward Duran, Age 23, Resident of Corona


SUMMARY: On Monday, November 6, 2023, at approximately 1:32 A.M., Rancho Cucamonga deputies responded to a call for service referencing dumpster fire at the Metrolink Station, located at 11208 Azusa Street in the city of Rancho Cucamonga. The reporting party stated they were watching a live video surveillance of the location and observed a male subject who started a fire in the dumpster and continued to feed the fire to keep it going.

Deputies arrived on scene, and with the assistance of Rancho Cucamonga Fire Department, extinguished the dumpster fire. Through investigation, it was determined the subject was waiting for his ride and started the fire in the dumpster to keep warm. Duran was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for arson.
