LOCATION: 655 E. Third Street, San Bernardino
SUSPECT: Cristian Melendez, 28-years-old, resident of Rialto
SUMMARY: Cristian Melendez is a registered sex offender. By law, he is required to provide truthful and accurate information when registering with law enforcement. In September 2023, Detective Chris Bertetto received information Melendez was falsifying personal information on his registration documents. Through the investigation, Detective Bertetto discovered several entries that were not accurate, misleading or omitted. The misleading entries encompassed multiple registration documents over the course of nine months.
On Wednesday, November 1, 2023, Melendez was taken into custody, without incident, while at the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Central Station. Melendez was booked at Central Detention Center in lieu of $40,000.00 bail. The investigation was forwarded to the Office of the District Attorney for review and filing.
