Update on the Paving of W. Saddle River Rd. and District 2 recycling for Wednesday 11/8 be ready by 6 am
The paving of W. Saddle River Road will continue as scheduled on Wednesday, beginning in the area between Washington Avenue and Brandywine and proceeding north to the Waldwick border throughout the day. Brandywine will be closed at 7AM please plan accordingly.
Contrary to what you may have heard or read in non-official borough postings, school bus companies, our trash and recycling collector and all emergency service providers are fully aware of the schedule and accommodations are always made in the case of a true emergency.
To that point we are urging all residents in District 2 scheduled for recycling tomorrow that they MUST have their recycling ready for pickup no later than 6 AM tomorrow Wednesday 11/8 (as it should always be anyway). Suburban will be coming through earlier than normal for many of you. Again, everything should be ready for pick up the night before but no later than 6 AM to ensure removal.
For those of you on the four cul-de-sacs in the northern section of West Road, we once again apologize that some of you may not have received the door-to-door letters that were dropped off more than a week ago. As presently scheduled, we would anticipate getting to your area sometime after 11 AM so you will have that time window to be safe to get your vehicles out. After 11 we make no promises from that point on, you may not be able to get in or out and we anticipate no access in this window ending somewhere around 5 PM for the overall section from Hollywood to the Waldwick border.
The Borough paves anywhere from 4 to 10 streets every year and careful consideration is given to try to make it as painless as possible for our residents. Unfortunately, there has to be a few hours where you cannot drive on the road. Plus having only one way in/out of certain streets only complicates this situation. Finally, the contractors’ schedules, weather, grant money that was available only this year (this is not costing the tax payers anything) and not trying to do this over the Thanksgiving holiday week, gave us this window, this week, this year.
The Borough appreciates your understanding. We understand this is inconvenient for some of you and apologize for that. The only good news is this is a generational project that will leave you with a new road for many years to come!
