Deputy Jordan Cox with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 38-year-old James Smith with Possession of a Firearm by Felon. Smith is being held under no bond.
On October 28th, deputies responded to a residence on Abigail Drive in Old Fort to assist Community Supervision Officers with a search of Smith’s residence. The search turned up a rifle. Smith is a convicted felon and is prohibited by NC Law from possessing a firearm.
