Deputies Respond to Man Who Accidentally Shot Himself; He is Later Taken into Custody for Drugs and Gun Charges

LOCATION: 13100 block of Yakima Road, Apple Valley, CA
VICTIM(S): 25-year-old female of Apple Valley, CA
SUSPECT(S): Miguel Rodriguez, 37-year-old male of Apple Valley, CA
SUMMARY:
On Monday, November 6, 2023, at approximately 12:43 AM, deputies in the Town of Apple Valley were dispatched to a residence in the 13100 block of Yakima Road for a subject with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the leg.
Deputy E. Madrigal contacted residents at the location and learned the suspect, Miguel Rodriguez, had brandished a firearm during an argument. Rodriguez then placed the firearm into his waistband and the firearm discharged, resulting in a call to 911. Narcotics were found in Rodriguez’ vehicle, which was parked nearby.
Rodriguez was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment prior to being arrested. Rodriguez was subsequently transported to the High Desert Detention Center for housing and is being held in lieu of $115,000 bail. California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation issued a parole hold for Rodriguez.
