Robbery From Wallgreens Leads to Arrest
 
A suspect was arrested for stealing merchandise from Wallgreens and punching an employee as he fled the store.    
 
San Mateo, CA – On November 8, 2023, at 10:59 a.m., officers located and arrested a suspect for robbery.  The suspect, Desiree Baquero, stole items from Wallgreens, located at 191 East 3rd Avenue.  When an employee of the store attempted to stop Baquero and get the stolen items back, Baquero punched the employee and ran from the store.  
 
After receiving a 911 call, officers were immediately dispatched to the area.  The employee was able to provide a description of Baquero and the direction he left the store.  Officers located Baquero a few blocks from Wallgreens.  When Baquero was contacted by the police, he was in possession of the stolen merchandise. 
 
During the investigation, officers learned Baquero stole items from the store and when confronted he punched an employee before fleeing the scene.  Baquero was arrested for robbery and booked into San Mateo County Jail. 
 
We need the community’s support in reporting crimes and being a good witness.  If you witness a crime, contact police immediately.  Try to remain as calm as possible and do your best to answer questions on the phone.  Remember details such as the suspect’s appearance, clothing, any distinguishing features, and which direction they flee. Once the police arrive at the scene, cooperate fully, and provide the officers with all the information you have.  Your observations can greatly assist law enforcement in their investigation.
