On October 25, 2023, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Fremont Police officers responded to the rear of a business located on the 3100 block of Walnut Avenue on a report of an unresponsive person. Paramedics on scene discovered a deceased male with a gunshot wound to the chest. Detectives from the Fremont PD Crimes Against Person(s) Unit responded to investigate.
Through the Community Camera network, private camera systems, and additional follow up, detectives identified the primary suspect as Marquice McClinton (37 years old, out of Fremont). McClinton has a lengthy criminal history including arrests for attempted homicide, violent assaults, firearms possession, and evading. On November 8, 2023, patrol officers responded to a report of an in-progress battery. Officers learned that McClinton was the suspect in the battery. As Officers attempted to contact McClinton, he fled through a neighborhood. After a foot pursuit, officers were able to arrest him near Blacow Rd. and Brophy Dr.
Detectives arrested McClinton for PC 187. McClinton was later transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
