Wilmington Police arrest two men on gun and drug charges:
Wilmington Police have arrested two men on gun and drug charges.
On November 1, at approximately 5:54 p.m., members of the Safe Streets Task Force were in the 100 block of North DuPont Street, when they observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation. Police conducted a vehicle stop and made contact with the driver – 32-year-old Phil Jones – who was taken into custody without incident on an outstanding warrant. Officers then made contact with 32-year-old Jamar Roane who was taken into custody without incident. Following a brief investigation, police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, 52.5 grams of crack cocaine, and .021 grams of heroin.
Phil Jones has been charged with the following offenses in addition to traffic violations and his outstanding warrant:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 3 Quantity
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Conspiracy (Second Degree)
Jamar Roane has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 3 Quantity
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Conspiracy (Second Degree)
