The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the shooting of an individual on Fairview Road in the Marion area. The shooter has been identified and is being interviewed by Sheriff’s Office Detectives. The Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the NC State Bureau of Investigation.
“We are in the early stages of the investigation and will release more information as it becomes available.” states Sheriff Ricky T. Buchanan.
A portion of Fairview Road has been temporarily shut down with the assistance of the NC Department of Transportation. We anticipate it being reopened shortly. We appreciate the assistance of McDowell EMS, Marion Fire Department, McDowell Rescue and NC DOT.
