El Cerrito Police Department police blotter from October 29th to November 4th

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from October 29th to November 4th.

October 29th


 No incidents to report.

October 30th

Trespassing - 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky)
At 10:38 AM an officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of an unwanted person by Plaza security for trespassing.  The man had been camped out in the plaza nightly, and refused several orders by security to leave the property.  He was becoming more aggressive with security each morning, and began threatening to hit the security guard if not left alone.  The man was field cited and escorted from the property with an admonishment to not return.

Fraud – 10422 San Pablo Ave (Bank of America):
At 4:24 PM the victim was tricked into giving the suspect a large sum of money under false pretenses. 

October 31st

Burglary/Vandalism – 6910 Potrero Ave. (East Bay Korean Christian Reformed Church)
At 11:09 AM the reporting party found the suspect inside the churches locked shed.  The suspect fled westbound on Potrero Ave. prior to police arrival.  Part of the children’s play structure was damaged as well.

Organized Retail Theft – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross)
At 3:41 PM three suspects entered the store and stole merchandise and fled. 
 
November 1st

Possession of Controlled Substances, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Warrant Arrest– Ohlone Greenway at Blake St.
At 11:43 AM an officer contacted a suspicious person that was possibly associated with a burglary.  The subject was found to have a warrant for his arrest out of South San Francisco for drug related charges.  The subject was arrested, and during a search of his person officers located methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia.  The subject was booked at the police department and released on a citation on all his charges.  
 
Evading – Portola Dr at San Pablo Ave.
At 8:19PM, officers located a felony vehicle after receiving a flock hit.  The vehicle was listed as a Felony vehicle out of Gilroy PD.  Officers attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle and it fled.  A pursuit was not initiated due to safety concerns. 
 
November 2nd

DUI / Hit & Run – San Pablo Ave / Hill St.
At 7:03 AM officers responded to a report of a vehicle driving recklessly in the area.  Upon arrival it was discovered the suspect had crashed into another vehicle.  The driver fled the scene and parked around the corner.  The driver was found and later arrested for drunk driving and hit & run.  The driver was later transported to county jail.

Grand Theft – 6000 Block of Barrett Ave.
At 4:48 PM citizens reported an internet outage in the area.  AT&T arrived and found that 30 feet of wire had been cut from the utility pole and stolen.

Vandalism – 1500 Block of S. 56th St.
At 6:54 PM officers responded to a report of vandalism.  The suspect and victim were in a verbal argument when the suspect hit the victim’s truck causing damage.  The case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office.

Robbery – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky)
At 7:06 PM officers responded to a report of a theft.  Two suspects stole items from the business and when confronted by staff, one of the suspects brandished a taser.  Both suspects fled prior to police arrival. 

November 3rd

Vandalism – 6700 block of Eureka Ave:
At 7:39 AM a suspect was arrested for vandalism after they threw rocks at their mother’s house window when she wouldn’t let them in, causing chips in the surface of the window glass.  He then turned his attention to a neighbor’s car, kicking dents in the doors and smashing the windshield and rear window with rocks.  The subject was located by other officers and placed under arrest and transported to county jail.

Home Invasion – 5800 block of Poinsett Ave:
At 3:53 PM an officer was dispatched to a lobby detail regarding a Home Invasion Robbery that occurred about half an hour prior.  The victim’s cell phone was among the property taken, and he was not able to call 911, so he came to the PD lobby to make the report.

Possession of a Stolen Vehicle/Felon in Possession of a Loaded Firearm/Evading:
At 3:56 AM an officer received a Flock notification of a stolen vehicle. The officer circulated the area and located the occupied vehicle in the Safeway parking lot. The driver noticed the officer and quickly sped away. Officers pursued the vehicle onto eastbound I-80. The vehicle exited at San Pablo Dam Rd. and continued to evade officers at a high rate of speed. While near the Orinda city limit line the suspect vehicle was involved in a solo vehicle collision. Officers detained the suspect as she exited the vehicle.  During a search of the vehicle, a loaded firearm commonly known as a “ghost gun” was located inside the vehicle. Officers conducted a records check and discovered the suspect was currently on felony probation out of Alameda County for grand theft.

Emergency medical services responded to the scene to provide medical aid to the suspect and eventually transported her to a local hospital for treatment. The suspect was released from police custody as they were admitted to a hospital for injuries sustained during the vehicle collision and this case will be forwarded to the Contra Costa County DA’s Office for review.

November 4th

Vehicle Theft – 6500 block of Moeser Ln:
The victim reports their vehicle was stolen sometime overnight.
