Captain Shanon Smith with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 38-year-old Jeffery Allen Higgins with Murder. Higgins is being held under no bond.
Around noon on November 9th, deputies responded to Fairview Rd. in Marion for a disturbance resulting in a shooting. Upon arrival, they located an individual who had sustained a gunshot wound. An investigation led to Higgins being the shooter and he was taken into custody. The victim later succumbed to his injuries. The investigation is ongoing and the name of the victim will be released once all family notifications have been made.
