Shortly after 4:00 a.m. Thursday, November 9, 2023, Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on Wild Horse Road, Hilton Head Island, for a reported gunshot victim.

A 19-year-old woman was struck by a bullet that was fired into the residence from the driveway where she and two others were sleeping. 

She was taken to a Savannah area hospital for treatment and succumbed to her injuries later the same evening.

Investigators are seeking assistance from the Hilton Head Island community in reviewing residential and business security systems. 

Any businesses or homes along Gumtree Road, Wild Horse Road and Squire Pope Road with street-facing cameras are encouraged to review footage captured between 3:00 a.m. and 5 a.m. on November 9, 2023.
