Learn to prune trees this weekend
The Hoboken Shade Tree Commission invites residents to join a tree pruning training session on Saturday, Nov. 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Multi Service Center, 124 Grand St.
The training will begin with a classroom session from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. to learn more about pruning standards, basic tree physiology, proper pruning procedure, and more. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. trainees will see demonstrations of all pruning procedures and gain hands-on experience.
Please contact Marcus Perry at [email protected] to participate.
Discolored water possible next week
Beginning Monday, Nov. 13, the Jersey City Municipal Utilities Authority (JCMUA) will be conducting maintenance along its Aqueduct that supplies water to Hoboken. During the upgrade work, there is potential for minor water discoloration due to stirring up of sediment within the system. Discoloration would not represent any contamination.
Veolia is working with JCMUA to diminish the possibility of water discoloration and teams will be monitoring the water quality throughout the upgrade. Customers who encounter discolored water in their home or business should flush cold water taps until the water runs clear and resume normal use.
This work will take place over two three-day periods during the weeks of November 13 and November 27.
Customers are advised to follow @HobokenOEM and @VeoliaWaterNJ on X (Twitter) for updates.
