PRESS RELEASE: Subject arrested for elder abuse, resisting arrest, vandalism
DATE/TIME: November 9th 2023
LOCATION: Unit block of Waterside Circle, Redwood City
Media Information:
Jason Holden (26) was arrested by the Redwood City Police Department on November 9th. RCPD detectives had sought an arrest warrant for multiple illegal acts he had committed in October and November of this year.
Holden had terrorized his elderly parents and the community in which they resided in. He took over his parent’s house and did in excess of $30,000 in damage to the residence. He also vandalized a neighbor’s vehicle. On numerous occasions, he fled from RCPD Officers on foot and in a vehicle.
The department’s SWAT Team and CNU unit intended to serve the search and arrest warrants on the morning of November 10th. However, prior to that, on the evening of the 9th, Holden lit a large fire in the backyard of the residence. The Redwood City fire Department had to respond to extinguish the flames. Concerned that Holden’s erratic behavior was escalating and that he might try to light his residence or a neighboring residence on fire, RCPD opted to serve the warrants immediately.
Holden did not comply with the negotiators’ requests that he exit the residence and attempted to barricade himself inside. SWAT Officers deployed a 40 MM less lethal weapon and a police canine to take him into custody.
After being medically cleared Holden booked into the San Mateo County Jail for Felony Elder Abuse, Felony vandalism, Felony eluding and resisting arrest.
