Serious Crash on US Hwy 22
On November 10th at 2:13PM The Readington Township Police Department, Whitehouse Rescue Squad and Whitehouse Fire Department were dispatched to Route 22 East in the area of the Whitehouse Preparatory School for a motor vehicle crash with entrapment. The first units arrived within minute and found a 2017 Cadillac XT5 overturned in the center median and a 66 year-old male driver entrapped in the vehicle. Rescue units successfully extricated the driver and transferred him to an awaiting New Jersey State Police helicopter. The driver was flown to Morristown Memorial Hospital for treatment and was later admitted in critical condition.
The crash is currently under investigation by the Readington Township Police Department with assistance being provided by the Hunterdon County Prosecutors Office. Preliminary evidence suggests that two vehicles were involved and both were traveling east in the right lane of US Hwy 22 when the crash occurred. The 2017 Cadillac struck the back of a semi-tractor, causing the car to overturn and roll multiple times into the grass median. Video footage as well as witness statements were collected and are being reviewed at this time. Anyone with information that would assist investigating officers should contact the Readington Township Traffic Bureau by calling (908)534-4031 ext. 370 or emailing Corporal Wester at [email protected]
