Information on a homicide investigation that occurred on Friday, November 10

On November 10, 5:36 pm, the Costa Mesa Police Department (CMPD) responded to a report of a shooting call in the 2800 block of Mendoza Drive. Officers arrived within approximately three minutes and located a 35 year old male suffering from an apparent gun shot wound. Officers rendered aid, however the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
CMPD has determined the shooting was likely gang related and through our investigation one subject has been taken into custody. Due to the on-going nature of our investigation, CMPD is not releasing the name of the individual in custody at this time. The shooting is not believed to have been random and appears to have been an isolated incident. There is no indication of any on-going threat to public safety.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to call the Costa Mesa Police Department at 714-754-5252 or Detective Fricke at 714-754-4908.
