Newark Police Department Crime Blotter Nov 6 - 12, 2023

The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 6. 2023 
1:09 AM: Officer Riddles located an unoccupied stolen vehicle in the area of Cherry Street and Auburn Avenue.

2:00 AM: Officer Riddles conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested a 48-year-old male out of Castro Valley for a misdemeanor warrant. Officer Riddles released him on a notice to appear for his warrant and several traffic-related offenses.

11:00 AM: Sergeant Warren located an unoccupied stolen vehicle in the area of Primula Terrace.

7:52 PM: Field Training Officer Norvell and Officer Williams responded to a disturbance on Magnolia Street involving a male yelling in the roadway. Officer Williams determined the 28-year-old male out of Newark too intoxicated to care for himself and arrested him for public intoxication. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

9:43 PM: Officer Swadener responded to a report of a theft of meat from a business in the 39900 block Of Cedar Boulevard. Officer Swadener located the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic enforcement stop. All three occupants, a 53-year-old male out of San Jose, a 33-year-old male out of San Jose and a 59-year-old male out of Newark, were identified by a witness and arrested for grand theft. They were booked into Santa Rita Jail.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2023 

6:43 AM: Officer Torres investigated a theft of a vehicle from Pandorea Terrace.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2023 

10:11 PM: Officer Riddles responded to a subject who was struck with a wine bottle in the area of 39000 Cedar Boulevard. The suspect, a 63-year-old male out of Newark, was taken into custody. He was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, violating a restraining order, and burglary. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2023 

7:17 AM: Officers were dispatched to a restraining order violation in the area of 36400 Spruce Street. Officer Medina located the suspect, a 51-year-old-male out of Newark and placed him under arrest. He was booked into Sant Rita Jail.

8:59 AM: Officer Torres investigated an auto burglary that occurred in the 4900 block Farnham Drive that occurred sometime overnight. The loss is unknown.

9:03 AM: Officer Losier responded to a hotel on Cedar Boulevard for suspicious activity type complaints and ultimately arrested three suspects and booked them at Santa Rita Jail for the following:

A 33-year-old out of Union City was arrested for a felony warrant, felon in possession of a firearm, ammunition, and narcotics.

A 44-year-old male out of Oakland was arrested for possession of narcotics and a felony warrant.

A 35-year-old female out of Santa Cruz was arrested for possession of narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and identity Theft/Fraud of 10 or more people.

6:55 PM: Officer Hererra was alerted to a theft that just occurred from a business on Newpark Mall Road, which resulted in the arrest of a 29-year-old male out of Richmond. The suspect was booked into Santa Rita Jail for shoplifting, resisting arrest, and possession of narcotics.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2023 

07:31 AM: Officer Piquette investigated a burglary to a hotel room on Cedar Boulevard. No suspects in custody/unknown loss.

8:59 AM: Officer Jackman investigated a domestic violence incident that occurred on Ebbetts Street. A 25-year-old male out of Newark was arrested. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

 9:25 AM: Officer Frentescu investigated a grab and run theft that occurred at a business on Jarvis Avenue. The suspect fled prior to police arrival and the loss was approximately $500.00 in merchandise.

1:53 PM: Officer Quinonez investigated a residential burglary to an apartment in the 39000 block of Cedar Boulevard that occurred within the last two days. The entry was made through an exterior window and no loss was determined.

2:23 PM: Officer Quinonez investigated grab and run type theft of fragrances from a business on Newpark Mall Road. No suspects in custody. 

4:12 PM: Officer Frentescu investigated an illegal dumping incident on Hickory Street that caused a traffic hazard.

5:18 PM: Officer Piquette responded to a disturbance in the area of 7700 Gateway Boulevard and located the responsible, a 50-year-old female out of San Jose. She was found to have felony warrants for her arrest and was and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

8:38 PM: Officer Soto arrested a 19-year-old out of San Leandro for driving under the influence and booked him into Santa Rita Jail.

 SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2023 

1:46 AM: Officer Riddles arrested a 23-year-old male out of Newark for driving under the influence. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

2:40 PM: Officer Slavazza located an occupied stolen vehicle and arrested a 33-year-old female out of Oakland. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

5:23 PM: Officer Hererra was dispatched to a disturbance on Argonne Street and arrested a 29-year-old male out of Newark for being drunk in public. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

8:24 PM: Officer Riddles observed a 48-year-old male out of Fremont, driving a stolen vehicle near Cedar Court. The suspect fled in the vehicle and was later located on Albrae Street after it collided into a fence. Officers located the suspect riding a bicycle away from the collision and placed him under arrest. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail for possession of the stolen vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, and the hit and run collision.
