SUBJECT:  Corrections Recruit Arrested after Invasion of Privacy Investigation

LOCATION: Target in Ocean Township          
 
ACCUSED: Marc K. Pierre 28 year old male of Neptune City, NJ
 
NARRATIVE:   On June 18^th, 2023 at approximately 4:50 pm officers took a report of a subject who was attempting to take inappropriate photographs of women who were wearing dresses while shopping inside of Target.  The reporting party advised that while she was walking through the store, she observed what she believed to be a camera attached to the suspect’s shoe and he was placing his leg between her legs in an attempt to see up her dress.  The victim’s husband confronted the suspect in the parking lot who denied the allegation and fled the area.  The husband was able to obtain a license plate of the vehicle the suspect was operating which was provided to the officers. 
   Detective Arthur Barnek was assigned to conduct a follow up investigation and took formal statement from the victim and her husband.  Detective Barnek was able to obtain surveillance video from Target which showed the suspect and confirmed that he was indeed using a video recording device in an attempt to take video of the victim.  During his investigation, Detective Barnek was also able to positively identify the suspect from the video as Marc K. Pierre and confirm that he was enrolled in the Camden County Police Academy as a Corrections recruit.  On June 26^th Detective Barnek obtained a warrant for Pierre’s arrest charging him with Invasion of Privacy.  Search warrants were granted for his residence and his vehicle.  Detective Barnek along with other members of the Ocean Township Police Criminal Investigations Bureau responded to the Camden County Police Academy and Pierre was placed under arrest.  The search warrants of his vehicle and residence were also executed which yielded several items of evidential value. 
Pierre was transported to Ocean Township Police headquarters where he was processed and then committed to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending an initial court appearance. 
   Detective Barnek received new information which leads him to believe that there are several other victims in this case.  If anyone believes that they were a victim while shopping in the Monmouth County area near Ocean Township during the months of May and June, please contact Detective Arthur Barnek at 732-897-6239.
