Holiday closure announced; 800 Monroe community meeting postponed; 2023-2025 school enrollment information; Holiday Banding Concert

Municipal offices closed for Thanksgiving 

Due to the Thanksgiving Day holiday, municipal offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24. The Hoboken Parking Utility service window will close early on Wednesday, Nov. 22, operating on an adjusted schedule from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Hop shuttle service will be suspended on Thursday, Nov. 23, through Saturday, Nov. 25. It will resume its regular schedule on Monday, Nov. 27. 

Parking meters will be suspended on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23. They will, however, be in effect thereafter. 

Street cleaning will be suspended on Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24. All waste collection, including recycling, will occur as regularly scheduled. 

Don't place waste out early

As a reminder, property owners must place trash at the curb in a container with a tight-fitting lid at or after collection time which is 7:30 p.m. in residential areas and after 9 p.m. in the Limited Business Area. Placing trash out at the curb earlier than your property's designated collection time can result in fines. It is illegal to place your property's trash in public trash cans. Property owners who do so can face fines.

800 Monroe Resiliency Park community meeting postponed 
The 800 Monroe Resiliency Park community meeting has been postponed. A new date and time will be announced in the coming weeks.

Enrollment information for the 2024-2025 school year

The three free, mission-based public charter schools in Hoboken - Elysian Charter School, Hoboken Dual Language Charter School (HOLA), and Hoboken Charter School - are accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year.

Applications must be submitted to each respective school no later than 5 pm on Thursday, Jan. 11, to be entered into each school's randomized lottery. More information on each school as well as applications can be found on their websites: www.ecsnj.orgwww.hobokencs.org, and www.holahoboken.org.

Holiday Banding Concert announced 

The annual Holiday Banding Concert will be on Sunday, Dec. 10, at 5 p.m. at Willie McBrides at 616 Grand St.

Local bands and musicians will perform a variety of holiday classics and original songs. Performers include Julio Fernandez, The Cucumbers, Sputnik, The Fuzzy Lemons, Elena and Boo of Demolition String Band, Lloyd United, Las Vandalays, Abbe Rivers, Jim Testa, Rio the Messenger, Cliff Westfall, Eddie Skuller, Gene D. Plumber, Ed Fogarty, Howard Olah-Reiken, Susan Lisovicz, Dave Lambert, Bianca Bob, Annalee Van Kleeck, Ed Fogarty, Tom Vincent and the Holiday Banding House Band, and more.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Admission is $10. Tickets can be purchased in advance through RecDesk at https://hoboken.recdesk.com/Community/Home starting at noon on Nov. 21 or at the door on the night of the event. The proceeds go to support Cultural Affairs programming.
