El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from November 5th to 11th
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from November 5th to November 11th.
November 5th
Vehicle Theft - 600 block of Liberty Street:
The victim reported that their vehicle was stolen sometime overnight.
Stolen Vehicle- 6500 Block of Moeser Ln:
At 9:21 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle. The theft occurred on 11/04 @ 5:00 AM.
November 6th
Bomb Threat – Invictus Academy 7150 Portola Dr.
At 5:59AM an unknown suspect sent school administrators an email stating that at a bomb will go off at the school. School was cancelled for the day. BART PD Bomb dogs searched the school, and no suspicious devices or bombs were located.
Strong Armed Robbery – Lucky 1000 El Cerrito Plaza
At 12:06PM the suspect stole miscellaneous items from Lucky and punched an employee in the head while exiting the store. The suspect was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Auto Burglary – 600 block of Albemarle St.
At 1:21PM suspects broke into a vehicle and stole miscellaneous items. The suspects fled in a vehicle.
Strong Armed Robbery – Chevron 11319 San Pablo Ave.
At 1:33PM three suspects entered Chevron and stole merchandise from behind the counter. One of the suspects punched the store clerk several times in the face. The suspects fled in a vehicle.
Petty Theft/Possession of a Controlled Substance/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia/ Warrant Arrest – DD’s Discounts 11555 San Pablo Ave.
At 2:11PM a witness saw the suspect take the victim’s purse and walk towards Del Norte BART. The suspect was detained at the BART station and had a theft warrant for his arrest. The suspect was booked at ECPD and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Skimming Device –10422 San Pablo Ave. (Bank of America)
At 1:30PM an ATM technician found a skimming device in one of the ATM machines.
Vandalism – 11511 San Pablo Ave (IHOP).
At 11:13pm, officers were dispatched to three subjects tampering with the exterior surveillance cameras. The suspects were last seen riding bicycles to the rear of Ross. Officers detained three possible suspects and identified them.
Attempt Stolen Vehicle – Kearney St / Wall Ave.
At 1:23AM, officers located a vehicle with a shattered window and ignition damage. The owner was contacted and the attempt to steal the vehicle occurred overnight between 11/5 – 11/6.
November 7th
Shoplifting – Safeway 11450 San Pablo Ave.
At 5:55AM a suspect stole miscellaneous items and fled on foot towards BART
Commercial Burglary – 10300 block of San Pablo Ave
At 1:01PM an unknown suspect pried open the bicycle storage unit and stole a bicycle.
Vandalism – 1700 block of Lexington Ave.
At 7:12PM, a suspect walked down the street and smashed the windows of three vehicles with a metal pipe. The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival.
November 8th
Stolen Vehicle – 600 block of Kearney St.
At 9:57AM the victim’s vehicle was stolen during the night. Officers learned that it was found abandoned in the City of Richmond early this morning.
Robbery –10794 San Pablo Ave (Marshall’s)
At 1:49PM a store employee confronted the suspect who was stealing merchandise. The suspect threatened to shoot the employee, but no weapons were seen. The suspect fled the store on foot with unpaid merchandise.
Shoplifting/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia –10680 San Pablo Ave. (O’Reilly Auto Parts)
At 3:57PM officers arrested a suspect for stealing items from the store. The suspect was also in possession of a meth pipe. The suspect was given a citation and released.
Vandalism – 10056 San Pablo Ave (Granters Jewelry).
At 9:00PM, officers were dispatched to a glass break alarm at the business. Upon arrival, officers found a broken window. Suspect fled prior to police arrival.
November 9th
Vandalism –11100 San Pablo Ave. (BMO)
At 8:27AM the reporting party reports that an unknown suspect shattered a glass window to the business with a rock.
Vandalism – 11100 San Pablo Ave #105 (CafĂ© 9!ne)
At 8:53AM the victim reports that an unknown suspect shattered the rear glass window to the business with a brick.
Vandalism – 400 block of Lexington Ave.
At 8:52AM the victim reports that an unknown suspect shattered the rear windshield to their vehicle.
Stolen License Plates – 2600 block of Monte Vista Ave.
At 6:30PM the victim reports an unknown suspect stole the front license plate of their vehicle.
November 10th
Petty Theft- 10636 San Pablo Ave (24 Hour Fitness):
At 9:08 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s property that was stored in a gym bag.
November 11th
Counterfeit Currency / Possess Controlled Substance – 500 block of Lexington Ave:
At 8:18 AM, an officer reports the arrest of a suspect for possession of counterfeit currency and possession of methamphetamine. Booked at ECPD and cited.
Vandalism – 1700 block of Lexington Ave:
At 9:21 hours, an officer reports an unidentified suspect broke a window of a red Hyundai Elantra sometime overnight.
Vandalism/Battery on an Officer/Drunk in Public/ Threat to an Officer - San Pablo/Cutting:
At 11:17 PM, officers responded to the area for an unwanted subject at a nearby business. Upon arrival an officer noticed a male was kicking the door of an AC Transit bus. The officer detained the subject and was advised by the bus driver the subject had shattered the windows to the main doors of the bus by kicking it several times. The subject was transported to the ECPD for booking. Upon arrival at booking, the subject spat at an officer and made threats to harm the officer. The subject also refused to identify himself to officers. The subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
