A Racially Motivated Murder Investigation is Underway at the Clayton County Jail. SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN
On 11/19/2023, Inmate Jaquez Jackson brutally beat his cell mate with his bare hands, viciously punching, kicking and slamming his head on the toilet, murdering him simply because of the color of his skin. During the investigation Inmate Jaquez Jackson stated several times to investigators that he does not like Mexican/Hispanics and wanted to kill them.
SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN activated his Criminal Investigation Division & Internal Affairs Unit to Criminally Charge Inmate Jaquez Jackson with:
Murder
Malice Murder
Aggravated Assault
And starting a Penal Riot
Inmate Jackson was in jail on a violation of probation on an original charge of:
Misdemeanor:
Simple Battery, Simple Assault, Criminal Trespass, Battery, Terroristic Threats.
& Felony: Terroristic Threats, Obstruction of Officer
On 04/20/22, Inmate Jackson was Sentenced to 5 years to serve 12 months in jail and the remainder of 4 years on probation.
On 10/11/23, Inmate Jackson's probation was revoked and he was sentenced to serve 1 year in prison awaiting acceptance from Georgia Department of Corrections.
The Clayton County Medical Examiner’s office was contacted and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
For the past 11 months, Sheriff Levon Allen & All 5 Board of Commissioners have been working together diligently to make improvements to the Jail and its current conditions. The Board has approved over approximately $5Million dollars in additional/emergency funds to assist the Sheriff with Lights, Locks, Leaks, Security Upgrades, Washers, Dryers, Body Cameras, Car Cameras, Pest Control Services, and Inmate Clothing.
The Clayton County Jail has a capacity of 1,536 beds, placing 2 inmates in a cell. The Clayton County Jail is currently at approximately 1900 inmates, placing the inmates on the floor and 3 inmates in a cell.
SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN has asked for an additional $6.5 million funding from the board of commissioners to expand the jail’s capacity and to properly classify inmates.
The Sheriff, Board, COO, and Legal are currently working together to find additional funding sources to provide assistance for the Clayton County Jail to protect all Inmates, Employees, and Contractors.
