Advisory

Moraga Police are investigating a series of residential burglaries and have arrested a suspect.

Over the past month, the Moraga Police began receiving reports of residential burglaries that were occurring in the Moraga Country Club in which golf clubs and golf equipment were stolen.  An investigation was launched and officers were able to locate video evidence of the suspect and his vehicle near the time of one of the burglaries.  Officers were able to identify the suspect and arrested him on November 18, 2023.  At the time of the arrest, the suspect, Trevor Hudson, 25, of Danville, was in possession of stolen property from some of the burglaries.

Hudson has been connected to at least 12 burglaries in Moraga and 2 burglaries in Danville.  Officers have been able to locate a large amount of the property that was stolen and are working to return it to the victims.  Moraga Police Chief Jon King said, “These crimes were solved due to the efforts and tenacity of our officers and our counterparts in Danville.  It was definitely a team effort…the different officers who took the reports, connected them together, scoured the area for video evidence, arrested the suspect and recovered the property.  I appreciate the hard work of our Moraga Police team who worked to solve these cases, arrest the suspect and recover the property stolen in these crimes.”

This investigation also shows the importance of home based video surveillance systems as a neighbor’s video provided instrumental evidence that was used in conjunction with the Town’s video system.  Additionally, most of these crimes occurred when people either left their garages open or unlocked. Although we live in a safe community, by ensuring that our garages, homes and vehicles are locked and secure, we can prevent most of these crimes.

The investigation into the burglaries is continuing.  Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to contact Detective Craig Walker at 925-888-7056.
