INCIDENT: Vehicle vs Pedestrian Fatal Traffic Crash

LOCATION: Navajo Road, Apple Valley, CA

PEDESTRIAN: Charlie Zamora Urias, 27-year-old Resident of Adelanto (Deceased)

DRIVER 1: Unknown

DRIVER 2: Francisco Taques Revolorio, 37-year-old Resident of Apple Valley
VEHICLE 2: 2020 Chevrolet Traverse

SUMMARY: On Sunday, November 19, 2023, at approximately 7:12 p.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station and rescue personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Department responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic crash that occurred on Navajo Road south of Sandia Road, in the town of Apple Valley.

Through investigation, deputies determined a silver sedan was traveling northbound on Navajo Road and struck a pedestrian, later identified as Charlie Zamora Urias, who was walking in the northbound lane. The driver of the silver sedan fled the scene after the collision. Urias was struck by a second motorist, in a Chevrolet Traverse, traveling southbound on Navajo Road from Sandia Road.

The pedestrian suffered major injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the Chevrolet Traverse was uninjured and remained on scene to cooperate with the investigation.

Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) responded and are conducting an investigation. Navajo Road was closed down between the intersections of Sandia Road and Del Oro Road for approximately five hours while deputies processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses.

Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the silver sedan with front end damage, as well as the driver. Evidence at the scene showed the silver sedan to possibly have a honeycomb style front grill.

Anyone with any information or anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Deputy G. Dominguez and Deputy S. Esparza at the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station at (760) 240-7400 or Sheriff’s Dispatch at (760) 956-5001.
