DUI and Drug Arrest, Vallecito
In the early hours of November 18, 2023, at approximately 1:45 AM, the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office conducted an extra patrol on Red Hill Road near the transfer station due to recent illegal activity. Upon contact, the occupant of the vehicle, identified as 42-year-old Kyle Hicks of Vallecito, was slumped over the steering wheel of the vehicle. The deputy awakened Hicks and noted strong indications of intoxication.
The California Highway Patrol was contacted, and an Officer responded to the location, taking over the investigation for suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI). A subsequent inventory search of the vehicle revealed approximately 150 pills suspected to be a mix of fentanyl and oxycodone and about 30 grams of suspected heroin.
Hicks was arrested and booked into the Calaveras County Jail for driving under the influence, possession of narcotics for sale, and possession of controlled substances.
This is one of two significant seizures of fentanyl within the same day. The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office remains committed to the safety and well-being of our community through continuous efforts to combat illegal drugs and impaired driving in our county. We appreciate the rapid response and partnership with the California Highway Patrol in addressing this investigation.
Please contact the Calaveras County Sheriff’s anonymous hotline 209-754-6030 if you have any information regarding drug activity in the county.
