PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release Thursday, November 23, 2023
Issued By:
Sergeant Ryan Suhrke, Petaluma PD, 707.778.4372
Incident: Petaluma PD makes 6 DUI related arrests on the night before Thanksgiving
Last night, the Petaluma PD deployed six officers to conduct DUI Saturation Patrol and six additional officers to patrol Downtown due to the traditional large bar crowds on the night before Thanksgiving. While the foot patrol officers were maintaining peace Downtown, officers on DUI Saturation Patrol made 72 traffic stops, between 4:00 PM and 4:00 AM resulting in 6 DUI related arrests and 25 other infraction citations. The following people were arrested for DUI related offenses.
The Petaluma Police Department is committed to increasing overall traffic safety and reducing the number of alcohol-related collisions. We will continue our efforts to locate and identify impaired drivers. Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 to $20,000 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
If you witness a suspected DUI driver, the Petaluma Police Department encourages citizens to call 911.
Funding for the DUI Saturation Patrol was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The six funded officers were deployed specifically to patrol and look for impaired drivers.
We want to thank all our police department staff that worked last night and must work this Holiday Weekend. We would also like to thank all the first who must work this holiday week. Happy Thanksgiving.
Media inquiries may be directed to Lt. Matthew Parnow at [email protected] or phone 707-778-4372.
