The annual Hoboken Community Tree Lighting, sponsored by the City and Hoboken Business Alliance, is tonight, Nov. 28, at 5 p.m.
The festivities, which will take place at 11th and Washington Streets, will feature Elvis the Elf and a special guest appearance by Santa Claus. This year, live performances will include the following:
- Studio L Dancers
- Hoboken Cheer Dynamics All Stars
- Ukelele Appreciation Society
- Connors Elementary School Chorus
- Brandt Elementary School Chorus
- Wallace Elementary School Chorus
- Hoboken Middle School Chorus
- Hoboken High School Chorus
- Hoboken High School Woodwind Ensemble
- Garden Street School of the Performing Arts
- Amazing Truth Society Guittar Program featuring Luke and Lucas
- Hoboken Charter School
Local Hoboken businesses including Merry Hot Cocoa, Apple Montessori School, and the Hive will provide free hot cocoa and baked goods to attendees.
The Hoboken Police Department will be present to collect unwrapped toys for families in need this holiday. Additionally, the Hoboken Community Center will also be accepting donations of non-perishable items for their pantry and the Hoboken Shelter will be collecting shower supplies to support their shower program.
The City will also provide free hop service to and from the tree lighting. Pickup will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Multi-Service Center at 124 Grand St. and stop at the following locations:
- Columbian Towers
- Adams Gardens
- Columbian Arms
- Hoboken Housing Authority
- Monroe Gardens
- Fox Hill Gardens
Pickup will be at 12th and Washington Streets following the end of the tree lighting.
Starting at approximately 4 p.m., and through the duration of the tree lighting, NJ Transit buses will be rerouted onto Hudson and Bloomfield Streets between Observer Highway and 14th Street. Please plan accordingly.
