San Mateo, CA –  On Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 2:00 a.m., the San Mateo Police Department responded to a violent altercation outside Yuppie Cantina, located at 709 S B Street, following reports of a group of males engaged in a physical altercation, utilizing belts as weapons. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered that all parties involved were intoxicated, leading to a chaotic situation resulting in two males being stabbed by a suspect and several others sustaining injuries that required medical attention. Fortunately, all injuries were determined to be non-life threatening.

Upon securing the scene, officers promptly initiated investigative procedures, including providing medical aid to the injured, collecting evidence, and obtaining surveillance footage capturing the incident. The Investigations Bureau assumed control of the case, and the Crime Reduction Unit was able to identify the stabbing suspect as Bryan Barajas-Pantoja through careful examination of the surveillance footage.
