Wilmington Police have charged three males in connection with a February shooting incident.
On February 28, at approximately 9:53 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 2300 block of Thatcher Street in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, police located an 18 year-old male gunshot victim, and a 20 year-old male gunshot victim who arrived to the hospital in stable condition.
The case was assigned to Detective Douglas Rivell of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Rivell identified two 17-year-old male juveniles, and 20-year-old Sherron Elam-Coursey as suspects. The case was presented to the New Castle County Grand Jury on November 6, and an indictment was returned for all three suspects. The two 17-year-old male juveniles are currently committed to the New Castle County Juvenile Detention Center on unrelated matters. Sherron Elam-Coursey is currently committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on an unrelated matter.
The first 17-year-old male juvenile has been charged with the following offenses:
- Attempted Murder (First Degree) – Two Counts
- Conspiracy (First Degree) – Two Counts
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony – Two Counts
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
The second 17-year-old male juvenile has been charged with the following offenses:
- Attempted Murder (First Degree) – Two Counts
- Conspiracy (First Degree) – Two Counts
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony – Two Counts
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
Sherron Elam-Coursey has been charged with the following offenses:
- Attempted Murder (First Degree) – Two Counts
- Conspiracy (First Degree) – Two Counts
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony – Two Counts
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
