IMPD Homicide Detectives Are Seeking the Public’s Assistance in a Locating Person of Interest in Murder Investigation
INDIANAPOLIS – IMPD homicide detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a person of interest in a murder investigation.
Detectives have identified a person of interest, 40-year-old Jessica Gillespie, to whom they would like to speak to regarding a January 2023 homicide. Detectives believe Gillespie may have information about what led up to the murder of Charles Linstrum. A photo of Gillespie is attached.
On Saturday, January 7, 2023, just after 7 a.m., IMPD East District officers responded to 9004 E. 18th St to assist IFD with a possible arson. Officers arrived and observed an unidentified adult male, who sustained injuries consistent with trauma. The male victim received medical attention from medics on-scene. The male, later identified as 70-year-old Charles Linstrum, was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in extremely critical condition and, unfortunately, later succumbed to his injuries.
IMPD Arson and Homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin their investigation. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner’s Office was called and assisted with the exact manner and cause of death.
On Tuesday, April 11, 2023, the Marion County Coroner's Office determined the death to be a homicide. IMPD Detectives were notified and continued to investigate this incident.
