California City Woman Killed in Auto vs Pedestrian Collision
On November 29, 2023 at 6:26 pm, California City Police Department officers were dispatched to a vehicle vs pedestrian traffic collision on California City Blvd near Deep Well St. Officers arrived on scene a short time later and found a female, identified as California City resident Leah Makiah Phillips (27) lying on the east bound dirt shoulder of California City Blvd. Life saving measures were performed but Leah succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Investigation revealed that Leah had been the driver of a vehicle east bound on California City Blvd. For unknown reasons, Leah pulled her vehicle to the dirt shoulder and exited her vehicle and proceeded to run into vehicular traffic where she was struck by a 2019 Toyota Avalon. The driver of that vehicle, identified as a 73-year-old man from Mojave, remained at the scene and was cooperative with investigators. Currently, speed and or alcohol are not considered factors in this collision.
