Recently there has been an increase in home invasions in the Metro Detroit area as well as the Grosse Pointes. Though we have not had any home invasions in Grosse Pointe Shores, thieves have recently targeted influential/wealthier communities. Their techniques have included gaining access from second floor windows, especially homes with thick landscaping to hide ladders. The Public Safety Department is reminding residents to always set alarms and lock doors and windows. If you should see or hear anything suspicious report the activity immediately to the Public Safety Department.
